Training Unit

The Training Unit is tasked with maintaining required levels of proficiency for all sworn and civilian personnel as mandated by the California Department of Justice (DOJ), the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC).

The Training Unit is supervised by a police sergeant and led by the Training Coordinator.

As a team, the Training takes great pride in being able to far exceed the minimum requirements of providing training to police department personnel.

This is achieved by sending both sworn and civilian personnel to the finest training available. Specialized units such as Investigations, Traffic, Vice and Narcotics, SWAT, and others are sent to very specialized schools to receive additional contemporary schooling.

The Training Unit also provides monthly in-house training, daily briefing material, legal updates, and assures firearm qualification for full-time, reserve and retired officers. The Training Unit is also tasked with the issuing and maintaining departmental equipment.

Each year, the Training Unit is responsible for facilitating over 9,000 hours of training for our officers.
