One full-time Senior Account Clerk is responsible for handling a variety of purchasing and accounting functions. This person prepares requisitions to pay invoices and purchase orders generated by various police department personnel. These purchases include anything from stationery and furniture to firearms and bulletproof vests. The account clerk is responsible for making sure each purchase request has been properly budgeted. After purchases are approved, the requisitions are forwarded to the City’s Purchasing Department. The account clerk also maintains the supply of many different types of report forms that are used for police services such as: Arrest, Crime, Traffic, Incident, and Missing Persons. In addition, the account clerk maintains a system that identifies the serial number and specific location of every piece of equipment, furniture, and machinery in the Department. Every year, each item must be verified by its location and an accurate inventory maintained. The account clerk also maintains payroll statistics for all Support Unit employees. |
