Chaplain Program

In 1983, the Chaplain program was created in our police department. At that time, the program consisted of only one clergyman. Currently we have several highly active clergymen from different faiths as part of the Chaplain Program and who are serving our community.

All of the clergymen in the Chaplain Program are fully ordained with churches/synagogues in our city and represent a variety of religions. The Chaplains work closely with the Police Officers as they perform their daily duties and assist with meeting the ministry needs of our citizens.

The Chaplains are also available to help all members of the police department, and their families, in their time of need. The Chaplains are available 24 hours day or night, to assist with death notifications and any other type of crisis that may arise. The Chaplains act as resource specialists to both our Crisis Negotiations and Trauma Support teams. The Chaplains bring a refreshing “spirit” to improving the quality of life for all who live, work, play, and visit the great city of Buena Park.
